(MACON, Ga.) – The Macon Mayhem, proud members of the SPHL, announced Thursday that they are signing forward Savva Smirnov for the 2026-27 season.
Smirnov, 25, from St. Petersburg, Russia, is entering his fourth year of professional hockey and first with the Mayhem after being acquired from Quad City in a trade on July 1.
“Savva’s a guy who plays on the edge,” said Head Coach Dave Pszenyczny. “He has high IQ and skill, and is going to improve our forward group.”
Last season was Smirnov’s first full year in the SPHL, spending 51 games with the Quad City Storm and recording 24 points (11 g, 13 a). His professional career totals reach 80 points (33 g, 47 a) in 146 games between the SPHL, the FPHL’s Blue Ridge Bobcats, and the ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder.
