What is a School Day Game?
The Macon Mayhem School Day Game is one of our most exciting and popular annual events, transforming a professional hockey game into an unforgettable educational field trip for students across Middle Georgia.
Designed for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade, this special weekday game begins at 10:30 AM and welcomes schools from Bibb, Houston, Monroe, Jones, and surrounding counties to the Macon Coliseum for a one-of-a-kind experience that combines education, entertainment, and hockey.
Students enjoy the excitement of live professional hockey while participating in a STEM-focused learning experience developed in partnership with the National STEM Academy. Throughout the game, students engage with educational videos, interactive activities, and a custom worksheet that reinforces key concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The event has become one of the largest school field trips in Georgia, drawing thousands of students and teachers each season and creating an electric atmosphere inside the Macon Coliseum.
What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, but it represents much more than a group of subjects. STEM education encourages students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and apply what they learn to the world around them.
Our School Day Game curriculum is created in collaboration with the National STEM Academy, a nationally recognized educational program based at The Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, Georgia. The Academy offers innovative, hands-on learning experiences that integrate traditional STEM disciplines with the arts, history, literature, and other subjects. Their programs are designed for learners of all ages and focus on making education interactive, engaging, and relevant.
