(MACON, Ga.) – The Macon Mayhem, proud members of the SPHL, announced Tuesday at their annual town hall event that they are signing forward Michael Herrera for the 2026-27 season.
Hererra, 24, from Syracuse, N.Y., was acquired by the Mayhem in a trade with the Peoria Rivermen in a trade in November 2025, and became one of the Mayhem’s most important pieces on their way to a playoff appearance last season. In 41 games with the Mayhem, Herrera led the team in goals with 15 and scored 36 points, a pace that would’ve led the team over a full season.
“Michael is a player we missed two years ago and at the beginning of last season,” said Head Coach Dave Pszenyczny. “He sees the ice well and has a high IQ. We’re glad to have him back for another year.”
Prior to his professional career, Herrera played collegiately for two years at NCAA D-III Utica University, where he recorded 26 points (13 g, 13 a) in 40 games before turning pro with the Pensacola Ice Flyers mid-way through the 2024-25 season.
“I’m excited for this upcoming season,” said Herrera. “Dave, myself, and the other returning players are on the same page when it comes to where we want to go as a team. We’re continuing to develop a winning culture and set a standard that we expect to get better every game. We want Macon to continue to be seen as a respected organization around the league and ultimately a championship caliber team.”
