(PENSACOLA, Fla.) – The Mayhem took a tough 2-0 setback in their only home game in the month of October tonight against the Bulls.
For the fifth consecutive game to open the season, the Mayhem were held scoreless in the first period. The first half of the period was the toughest for Macon, as a redirected shot by Andrew Poulias put the Ice Flyers up 1-0 in the first five minutes. Just minutes later, a defensive zone breakdown left Porter Schachle alone in front of Josh Boyko to give the home team some insurance. The Mayhem found their way into the zone for a couple of chances before the period’s end, namely a breakaway for Matt Carlson, but they trailed 2-0 at the end of the first.
The second period was equally flat for the Mayhem, as they allowed another two goals to Pensacola, the latter of which came at the tail end of a five-minute power play for the Ice Flyers. The final period became a bit of a throw-away, with more penalty minutes than minutes played and another Ice Flyer goal.
Eventually, the Mayhem fell 5-0 to the Ice Flyers getting shut out for the second consecutive game, and third time in five games.
Macon returns to the ice tomorrow night in Huntsville at 8:00 pm ET. The Mayhem will finally be back at home on Friday, November 20th at 7pm against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs for Pro Wrestling Night. Grab your tickets today at maconmayhem.com.
