(MACON, Ga.) – The Macon Mayhem, proud members of the SPHL, announced Thursday that they are signing defenseman Philippe Caron for the 2026-27 season.
Caron, 26, from Timmins, Ontario, comes to Macon after spending time last season with both the Birmingham Bulls and Fayetteville Marksmen in his first season in North American professional hockey. In his 45 games last season, Caron recorded 7 points (2 g, 5 a).
“Sometimes a player needs confidence, and it seems Phil got that playing in Australia this past summer,” said Head Coach Dave Pszenyczny. “We’ll be looking for him to expand his game offensively from the back end this year.”
Caron spent his first four years of professional hockey in Europe, the first three in Sweden and the final season in France. In his 125 games in Europe, Caron showcased scoring ability with 72 points (18 g, 54 a). He also played in Australia this summer with the Melbourne Mustangs, with 48 points (10 g, 38 a) through just 26 games for the team.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Caron spent time in the Canadian junior leagues, most notably the OHL between the Soo Greyhounds, Guelph Storm, and Sudbury Wolves. During that time, Caron was teammates with future NHLers such as Nick Suzuki (MTL), Barrett Hayton (UTA) and Quinton Byfield (LAK).
“I’m fired up to get to Macon, meet the guys and get to work,” said Caron. “I’m looking forward to being part of the Mayhem organization, competing every night, and doing everything I can to help the team win.”
