(MACON, Ga.) – The Macon Mayhem, proud members of the SPHL, announced Tuesday that they are signing forward Hugo Koch for the 2026-27 season.
Koch, 23, from Göteborg, Sweden, returns to the Mayhem after a previous stint with the team during the 2024-25 season. During his time with the Mayhem, Koch recorded five points (1 g, 4 a) in 11 games along with 27 penalty minutes. He was acquired by the Mayhem in a trade with the Pensacola Ice Flyers that season, scoring three points (1 g, 2 a) in six games with Pensacola.
“We’re adding depth up front with Hugo’s speed and physicality,” said Head Coach Dave Pszenyczny. “He’s been here before and knows what he is capable of.”
Koch has spent the majority of his three seasons in North America in the FPHL, and has been a scoring threat with all five teams he’s played for. Between the Mississippi Sea Wolves, Monroe Moccasins, Topeka Scarecrows, and Biloxi Breakers, Koch has recorded 145 points (39 g, 105 a) in his 131 games over the last three seasons, and scored a goal for the Blue Ridge Bobcats in the lone playoff appearance he made for the team last season.
He began his pro career in Sweden in the 2021-22 season, tallying 46 points (15 g, 31 a) in his 33 games there over two years.
“I’m super excited to be back in Macon this year,” said Koch. “After talking with both coaches and hearing their plans for both the team and me, it was a no brainer to sign. I’m really excited to get together with this group and work towards our goal of winning the championship.”
