MACON, GA – The Macon Mayhem of the SPHL are proud to announce they have signed defensemen Jarod Yau and John MacDonald and forward Mike Marchesan to their training camp roster.
Yau, a 22-year-old defenseman from Richmond, Britich Columbia, spent the majority of last season with the Danbury Hat Tricks of the FPHL playing 51 games and adding 37 points and 131 penalty minutes before adding 4 points in 10 playoff games en route to the championship. In addition, Jarod played 2 games for Fayetteville in the SPHL as well. Before going pro Yau played a majority of his junior career in the Pacific Junior Hockey League where in 162 games Jarod posted 95 points and 339 penalty minutes.
MacDonald, a 22-year-old defenseman from Canonsburg, PA, spent 48 games with Danbury last year adding 37 points and 70 penalty minutes in the regular season, and then added 6 points in 10 games on the way to the championship. John played 3 games for the Roanoke Rail Yard Dogs in the SPHL during the season as well. This was MacDonald’s second pro season coming off 30 points in 43 games in 2021-22.
Marchesan, a 23-year-old forward from Burlington, Ontario, spent his first season in professional hockey with Danbury tallying 58 points and 58 penalty minutes in 46 games. He was a key part of their playoff run with 13 points in 10 games.
“Jarod, John, and Mike come to the organization after a championship run in Danbury a place and system, I’m familiar with. I have no doubt they can come in here and make
an impact and bring playoff experience to our locker room.” Coach Nick Niedert said about the signing.
