Mayhem Add NHL Draft Pick to Roster

Today the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL are proud to announce they have signed a former NHL draft pick to their roster signing Goaltender Ty Taylor.

Taylor, a 24-year-old left hander from Richmond, BC, was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2018 NHL draft. Aside from his ranking as a former draft pick Ty brings an intimdating stature to the Mayhem net standing 6’4. Before signing in Macon Taylor played for Glasgow Clan of the EIHL after appearing in one game in the ECHL in his post collegiate career. Ty made two postseason starts in Glasgow last season where he went 1-1 with a .909 save percentage. Taylor has been a dominant presence wherever he has gone from the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL where he had the Best GAA, Save percentage, was a first team all-star, the BCHL Top Goaltender, and the Best combined GAA for the league in 2017-18, through the University of New Hampshire and Grant MacEwan University, and now into the American professional league.

“One of the most important pieces to building a championship roster is the back end. When you feel secure between the pipes it allows other players to do what they need to do to produce. With these signings we are securing our goal. Ty is a young kid taking his first shot at pro hockey in the states and we are thrilled to bring him to Macon.” Coach Nick Niedert said about the signings.
