Macon, Ga – The Macon Mayhem announces Derek Contessa as another addition to the 2023-2024 Roster.
Contessa, 24, comes to Macon after wrapping up his college career with Endicott College where he played two seasons and posted 16 points (9g, 7a) in 36 games. Before transferring to Endicott, he played for Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Prior to college hockey, the 6’3” forward played juniors with Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL in 2018-19 tallying 21 points (12g, 9a) in 68 games. He also played 40 games with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL adding another 53 games, 20 points and 40 penalty minutes to his stats. Contessa was a curtail part in leading the team to their 2017-18 Robertson Cup Championship.
When talking to Head Coach, Nick Niedert, commented, “Contessa has proven himself at the NCAA level. I am excited to see how his game translates to the professional level.”
Contessa is the tenth player signing announced for the 2023-24 season. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more player announcements as we announce the whole roster within the next few weeks.
